Shortly thereafter, on June 10th, F. DeLauer, US Dept. of Defense Undersecratary for R&D, announced a change to the DoD Languages Policy. Beginning Jan 1st 1984 for "new work" and July 1st 1984 for "work reaching advanced development stage", basically all US DoD-written software will be required to be in Ada.
