When we compare the 2008 results against the copy of the Tiobe index from 2004 (http://www.developer.com/java/other/article.php/3448451), you can see that Ada has gone from number #19 then to #23 now. But that just illustrates the current flat-lining condition. The other data I can find is indirect, as in the computer language book sale graph (http://radar.oreilly.com/archives/2006/08/programming_language_trends_1.html), or the stats on open source projects (http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~flab/languages.html). Either way, Ada doesn't make the graph. Compare this with the heyday of Ada, back in the late 80's to early '90's. I don't have any real data, but I'd guess that it's fair to say it was in the top half-dozen languages.
