If any interesting happen i will summarize to the net. Here follows a short collection of the answers, (edited by me though). Mike Williams (mike@erix.UUCP) (enea!erix!mike) The York Ada compiler is distributed to commercial institutions outside the UK by SPL international. As far as I remember it costs about 10 000 USD and the 1 000 USD per year in sweden. I believe that it might be possible for you to get a cheaper academic license if you talk directly to York. Address: University of York - Dept of Computer Science, Heslington York Y01 5DD UK (tel 00944 / 904 59 861) Contact Dr Ian Wand or Prof Ian Pyle. We had a preliminary version on our machine (erix at L M ERICSSON) but it was full of bugs. Comment: We did contact the University directly and it seems they have a NONE commercial license for 150 GBP. Per Hedeland enea!erix!per or per@erix.UUCP The address of the mother company for the commercial distribution is: SPL International Research Center The Charter Abingdon Oxon UK OX14 3LZ Tel (UK) 0235-24112 Telex 83164 We had release 0 of the UNIX version (the other one is for VMS) on trial a while back. It was rather flakey, but the code it eventually produced seemed all right. Release 1, which is hopefully better, is now available. It is *very* expensive, though, this not being the fault of the guys at York, but rather because Maggie seems to think that selling software is one way to get the British economy back on its feet... Don Davis JHU/APL ...decvax!harpo!seismo!umcp-cs!aplvax!ded ...rlgvax!cvl!umcp-cs!aplvax!ded This subset of ADA (without generics) is slow. I wrote a program to print "Hello, world" which took several minutes to compile and resulted in over 50K of object code.
