I hinted at that solution in my post: you can become a Debian developer yourself and maintain GtkAda 2.4 in Etch. I'm not going to spend the effort if I'm the only one working on it, but I would welcome co-maintainers. I don't know if GtkAda 2.4.0 compiles with GCC 4.1. I haven't tried.
