In fact, I can and have created programs with GNAT= s assembly language commands, and recompile for a different platform withou= t change. (Not guaranteed to work, and you have to be careful.) All in all= , much, much better than other languages where moving an application from o= ne compiler to another for the same target can take weeks. On the downside, Ada is just getting to the point where OS calls and graphi= cs is as easy as the rest of the langauge domain...
