The situation where there are multiple licences, created by multiple companies or organisations is an unstainable mess. What, I believe, AdaCore have done is to say that they are not in the business of creating the "free software" rules and that they will simply release Gnat under what ever rules the FSF comes up with. I believe this is a correct long term decision. That said, the situation whereby that if you compile your code with a FSF compiler that you must inturn release the code under their licence is absurd. But it is up to the FSF to fix it, not AdaCore. It's not hard to do, just change the licence rules. Chris Miller
