Look for Booch's text "Software Components with Ada" (1987) from
Benjamin Cummings Press.  They are a good start an understanding
how to build software components.  In my opinion, the Booch 
components are good, but showing their age.  

I'd be interested in knowing about other component sets that are
generally available.
