Maybe at your uni. At ours they teach Ada along with Haskell, to newbies. Our lecturers are quite fond of it, especially our software development lecturers. They seem to like it's separate compilation and the flexibility of the types allowed in Ada (enumeration, ranges, subtypes, arrays). Sure they teach Java and C, but that's only in the latter years of the course, and because they want us to be familiar with as many languages as possible (no problem if your a language freak, like me).
