I am looking for a package that takes large numbers (represented over
multiple words) and provides arithmetic functions (i.e. addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division).

I have been looking for a package that converts to strings for the
operations and then converts back, but I have not had any luck in the
software repositories.  

If anyone could point me in the correct direction, it would be greatly
appreciated.
